MAN – THREE FOLD PART II |
![]() |
Next let us consider the material man. He controls the ambitions of the human being with his desires attuned to the pleasures of
life. He possesses the ability to work and supply his needs, wants and comforts. It is his aim to keep himself in as high estate
as possible with luxury abounding. Many times man is a self-indulgent person only thinking of “me and mine” and how he can move ahead with little consideration
for those around him. His desires are for the accumulation of THINGS. He buys what he does not need, goes where he
should avoid, talks when he should be silent, and dresses immodestly when he should have sobriety and shame facedness. He
like to be seen of men. He will be pierced through with many sorrows (I Tim. 6:10).However, there is the man that lives and works, whom God blesses materially, that uses what he has as a faithful steward
realizing this life is temporary and will one day pass away. Therefore he does all within his means to use what he has to the
glory of God. He goes about with a meek and quiet spirit doing good and is a blessing to all.Let us ever be mindful that this man as well as the physical man is only temporary and will one day be no more. That he
through materialism can be easily drawn away from the fold of safety by his own lust. Therefore don’t spend too much time
and effort to keep him in such high fashion, but look more to the spiritual man who will be the third and final part of man we will
explore. (To be continued).Walter M. Bishop, Elder
