We are told in Eph. 4:5 there is one Lord, one Faith, and one Baptism. If this be true, is it possible there could be false faiths? Have you ever examined yourself to see why you believe what you believe? Is your faith solid and true or could it be based on sinking sand? Is your faith built on what someone else believes or is it on what you have studied and learned from the word of God? We are commanded in II Tim. 2;15 to study that we might be able to know from the Word why we believe what we do, thereby, building on the one faith that will save our souls.
Who wants a false faith? Many are following leaders whose words are as sounding brass and tinkling cymbals (I Cor. 13:1) that will lead to destruction. I know many who work diligently, sacrifice much, all based on false hope. In Matthew 7: 21–23, we have a portrayal of the judgment where those who had built on false faith told the Lord of the many good works they had done while on earth. However, the Christ said, depart I never knew you. In other words, they had built their hopes and works on another beside Jesus Christ. How sad to hear these words of doom from the Master with no hope of ever going back or undoing what was already done.
Let us make sure of whom we serve. Then add to our faith virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience and brotherly kindness which will make us fruitful and our calling an election sure. (II Pet. 1:5-10) Let us not face Jehovah God (which we surely will) without being clothed with His garment!!
