WE MUST READ AND STUDY
Past/Future Articles

Many of us have read the Bible completely.  Many have read it through several times, but how many times have we studied it?  We are told to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (II Tim. 2:15).  We cannot know anything unless we are exposed to it.  We may be educated on world affairs, but God’s Word can not penetrate an educated mind unless that person studies the Word of God.  As we study, God’s Word will pierce a good and honest heart.

Jesus talks of the heart he seeks in the parable of the sower when He said, “But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the Word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience” (Luke 8:15).  To study and understand requires a good and honest heart.  Understanding God’s word will not come to us effortless.  We must desire understanding, plan for study, and read to study.  This is how we learn to obey God in order to save our souls and to teach others in order that they may save their souls also.
