Many times I have watched through a window or on the television screen the ocean break on the shore with its white waves capping and mist rising, pondering how beautiful the handiwork of God and the peace it brings to the soul. However, there is no comparison to the view through the window and the “real thing.” To actually walk beside the ocean with the golden sun either rising or setting and feel the soft spray of mist on your face with God’s azure blue sky overhead is something an artist can not paint nor a poet describe. Sounds of the gently rolling water with seagulls singing their melodious song have been taped for man’s peace in listening, but still can not bring the contentment of mind brought about by literally being there.
As I thought of the impaired vision through the window as opposed to the “real thing,” I reflected on the life that now is as compared to the life that is to come. God has allowed man to look through the window of His word at some of the joys He has prepared for the Christian. I don’t believe the finite mind of man can possibly conceive what total joy there will be in Heaven for the faithful. Rev. 21 gives us a “preview” of the New Jerusalem, however I am persuaded we still can not fully comprehend the reality of what bliss awaits the faithful. Our names may appear on many worldly documents and in a lot of places on earth, but none can compare with it being placed in the “Book of Life” by the finger of God. IS YOUR NAME WRITTEN THERE? IF NOT – WHY NOT?
Let us not allow anything or anyone on this earth prevent us from attaining the blessings God has made possible for all who obey Him and love His appearing!!!!! (II Timothy 4:8).Walter Bishop, Elder
