PRAYER, A BLESSING AND A DUTY

Past/Future Articles

Sometimes we do not realize the true blessing of daily prayer, and daily duty of prayer.  All genuine Christians believe in the power of prayer.  God promises he will hear and answer the prayers of his people (Matt. 7:7; James 5;16; I Peter 3:12).

Prayer will not set aside the laws of God nor will it “get us what we want.”  God decides what we need and answers our prayers accordingly.  God knows what is best for every Christian and as Christians we should pray “if it be thy will” or “thy will be done,” realizing his wisdom and love for us to know what we need.  “If we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us” (I John 5:14).

As we realize the blessings of prayer let us also realize the duty of prayer.  Paul wrote in the Ephesian letter, “praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saint (Eph. 6:18).
