WHO AM I?

Past/Future Articles

I am more deadly than the screaming shells from the howitzer
I win without killing
I tear down homes, break hearts, and wreck lives
I travel on the wings of the wind
No innocence is strong enough to intimidate me
No purity pure enough to daunt me
I have no regard for truth, no respect for justice, no mercy for the defenseless
My victims are as numerous as the sands of the sea, and often as innocent
I never forget and seldom forgive
My name is Gossip … Morgan Blake

Have you ever met a person who seems to delight in carelessly discussing the problems and situations of a fellow acquaintance?  One who dwells on the unfortunate mistakes of a would be friend?  One who wants to be sure that he or she can insert their degrading message into the conversation of anyone who will listen?  This is a gossiper.  The message he or she spreads is gossip, and according to scripture, a sinful practice.  Proverbs 16”27-28 says, “An ungodly man diggeth up evil: and in his lips there is as a burning fire.  A froward man soweth strife: and a whisperer separateth chief friends.”  Proverbs 20:19.  “He that goeth about as a talebearer revealeth secrets; therefore meddle not with him that flattereth with his lips.”  In Gal. 6;1, Paul says, “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.  Remember, there will be no gossiping tongues without gossiping ears.
