In every area of life, people concern themselves with priorities.  This is true in business, education social and economic areas.  All are trying to determine what should be first.  Many businesses exist solely for the purpose of helping others determine their priorities.

Jesus was also concerned with priorities.  In Matthew 6:33, He said, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all things shall be added unto you.”  The Master makes it clear in this passage that for His followers the priorities have already been established.  They are the “kingdom” and “righteousness.”  In this context, Jesus makes it clear that blessings from God are dependent upon our placing first things first.

As stewards for God, if we understand what is to be priority one, we will place our time, talent, and money “first” in His service; and all else will be considered second.  If anyone or anything comes before the kingdom of God and His righteousness, we have not understood or accepted the priorities which God has determined for us.

What is priority one in your life?  If it is not the kingdom of God and His righteousness, then you need to make some changes, and fast, if you want to be pleasing to God.  May God help us to put first things first.
