"Be Still"

Many times when the trials of life come, we want a "quick fix."  People are not willing to take the desired course or what Do says to work out their problems.  We try to help God by injecting our own thoughts and ways on how things should be done.  Such as Sarah who, trying to speed things up, could not wait for God to work His plan. (Genesis 16:3)  And then Aaron, who could not wait for Moses to come down off the mountain, made a golden calf to worship.  (Exodus 32:4)  We are told in Psalms 46:10 to "Be still and know I am God."  Moses told the children of Israel to "Stand still and see the salvation of the Lord."  (Exodus 14:13)

As servants of God, we are to be obedient to the Word and have all faith that God will be with us no matter how bright the lightening flashes, how loud the thunder roars, or how high the billows roll.  He has not promised us this life would be free of problems and trials, but that if we would be faithful, he would be with us always even unto the end of the world.

We should not be as the old woman siting on her porch crying.  Someone asked her what was wrong.  She said there is an ax hanging in the ceiling and I am fearful it will fall and hit me in the head and I shall die.  She had two options, either remove the ax or herself.  Not all problems in life are this easily solved.  However, dear brethren, let me admonish you to do what is within your power to live a faithful christian life, holding fast to the anchor of hope, then be still and see the salvation of the Lord.
