Past/Future Articles

Before we go into the fourth and final compromise of Pharaoh let us briefly look at the other three.  First we see the ruler's appeal to man's love of ease, "SACRIFICE TO YOUR GOD IN THE LAND."  Next he says, "GO, JUST DON'T GO FAR," knowing man would remember the familiar surroundings of Egypt and return.  Third love of family, "GO, BUT LEAVE CHILDREN."  Now the last offer, "GO, BUT LEAVE FLOCKS AND HERDS" (Exodus 10:24).  Pharaoh knew of man's want of material wealth.  Many years ago our Lord told us in Matthew 6:21 "Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."  Man is drawn by his desire of riches which the Egyptian leader knew, thereby telling Moses and Aaron to leave their possessions in Egypt surmising they would, more than likely, return.

This may not sound like much to us, but think about it.  There would be few who could leave their earthly wealth behind.  (Though we will someday) Lot lingered.  We probably would too, if not go back.  However God did not require Israel to leave all.  In fact quite the opposite.  He instructed Moses to tell the Israelites to borrow jewels of silver and jewels of gold from their neighbors.  Then God gave the people favor in the eyes of the Egyptians.  Moses became very great in the land (Exodus 11:2-3).  Here we see God's ever watchful eye and providence over His people.  So Israel made ready to leave with staff in hand.  We should be so obedient today.  Standing firm. wearing the whole armour of God, ready to go at the twinkling of an eye.

Pharaoh told Moses to get out, he did not want to see his face anymore for in that day Moses would die.  Here we see a man pronouncing his own doom for it was Pharoah who would die.  Does a man think he can out do God?  Moses told Pharaoh he had spoken well.  "I will see thy face again no more" (Exodus 10:29).

Be not deceived God is not mocked.  The creator of mankind knows all, sees all and executes.  Don't be duped into thinking you can out-smart God for He will roll over you like a steam roller.  If you live contrary to His word, he will destroy you.  On the other hand if you live faithful to His word you will have peace and salvation of your soul.  Our God is Omnipotent, (unlimited authority); Omnipresent, (everywhere); Omniscient, (universal knowledge).  Therefore you can not hide from God.  So let the children of faith praise and oby Him and He will make His face to shine upon you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26).  Is there any greater blessing or assurance in this world?  OBEY HIM, PRAISE HIM!!!!!
